In the previous blog we stated that houseplants shouldn’t just be limited to the living room because keeping houseplants is an easy, very effective way to make your home a more pleasant place, for example by placing plants in the bedroom. The same thing goes for keeping houseplants in the nursery. Plants in the nursery can be very good, because the positive effects also apply to children, though the rules are a little bit stricter.
It is very healthy for children to play and grow up in a green environment. When choosing which plants will fit in the nursery, it is important to look for plants that are not toxic (especially with small children). If you still have doubts about some specific plants, you can place those plants in a high place, where children cannot reach them.
Because plants in the bedroom often can be forgotten, it is smart to choose the plants which are easy to care for and it’s not so bad if it does not get water for a week.
How fun would it be for children to have their own plant of which they can take care for? Children learn responsibility towards a living plant at a young age.
You can also look for a suitable pot together with your child (ren) during a visit to the gartencenter or another store. They will be proud of their plant!
