We entered the last few months of the year 2019, the dark and rainy months in which we look forward to the holidays. These months we enjoy being inside: we huddle to the fireplace or under a blanket. Luckily we bring in some nature with our green friends: our houseplants. So snuggle up, go sit between your plants and let yourself be inspired!
The coming months we want to give you the recipe for a green and stylish kitchen. We want to inspire you to make your kitchen more lively by using houseplants! And this is perfect timing because holiday season has arrived and often we spend a lot of time in the kitchen during these days! Time to get ready and make your kitchen festive with houseplants!
Find the right spot
Besides good looking, a kitchen needs to be functional, this may have been something that has hold you back from putting plants everywhere and honestly: a bit of counterspace is very useful in the kitchen! Luckily there are more than enough other options for having plants in your kitchen; have you ever thought of the extractor hood? Most people see this object as a necessary evil, but honestly, it is the perfect plant spot for both standing and hanging foliage plants. Besides: plants also provide clean air.
Hanging plants are great in the kitchen, they take little space and you make use of height, this allows your kitchen to appear optically higher and larger. Do you have a bar or a kitchen island? Lucky you, this is the perfect spot for a green eyecatcher! Also, wall shelves are a good option to place all kinds of plants on. A full white kitchen becomes more warm and attractive inmediately when you put green foliage plants in it. Combine the plants with nice wooden cutting boards and there you have your stylish, natural kitchen.
Use your space
Our last inspiration tip is… the fridge! The space between the fridge and the ceiling is mostly empty space, but as soon as you place a group of houseplants on top of the fridge, your kitchen will look way neater. You can use decorative pots to make your kitchen more personal, or you can use terracotta pots in the same colour, that are simple and beautiful. In this way, the plants will stand out beautifully.
Did you get inspired to decorate your kitchen with more foliage plants? Or do you already have plants in your kitchen? Use the hashtag #plantsinyourkitchen to inspire more people! Next month we will give you tips about specific houseplants that are suited for the kitchen.
